Floor Treatment

Walls + Trim

1. Paint-by-number match the colors to the sections
2. Overall spatter of a lighter color
3. Very sparse spatter of contrasting cyan
4. A light grunge-sponge across the bottom edges and in corners. After tech I went back in and added more grunge across the top edges as well.

For the trim, it needed to look rounded and shiny on the edges while remaining 2D. To accomplish this I blended a highlight and base color and then added the shading after. If I could do it over, I would've blended all 3 colors at once with 3 brushes combined on one handle for efficiency.

Stage Woodgrain

For this woodgrain I worked backwards from what I usually do, and instead of going light to dark I went dark to light. The process was:

1. Dark red-brown base
2. Snapping charcoal lines to define boards
3. Accenting select boards with a thinned highlight color, a 4" brush, and a lining stick
4. Spattering the light woodgrain color and dragging it across with a corn broom
5. Spattering the dark grain (Van Dyke Brown) and dragging with the broom
6. Lining the boards with flat black and a small scenic fitch
7. Sealing with 2:1 semigloss poly:H2O in a garden sprayer
